Smokes, Lightning & Incidents:1510: Smoke/Mexico, 223 / 21 Miles (3 miles in MX) Back side of Cerro San Isidro Peak. (Not reported)
1656: Smoke/Mexico 189 / 12 miles. Close to border, white smoke, near Tecate POE. Called in as being close to border and very visible. Smoke shifted from white to black. 1722: gave update to CNF that smoke was black, I could not see flames and fire was climbing far ridge in MX and moving South. Cal Fire dispatched to check area. Received phone call from Sheriff: Someone driving off-road on Bronco Peak called in as fire increased. (see image 1). Mexico had numerous vegetation fires going well inside MX. (caused a lot of haze)
Weather:It was nice all day with temps in mid 60’s to low 70’s. Pretty clear in the morning. Downtown San Diego starting to be visible (see image). Mid day haze wiped out nice view. RH was low in the morning ( 8 / 16) but climbed to mid 40’s mid day. Winds were between 10-15 until afternoon, then 20-25

Additional Information:Truck 347 (from Alpine) came up to show new Fire Fighters the tower. Stayed for a while and enjoyed the view.
Nice sunset last night with Balloon floating in sunset. Observed “Green Flash” at sunset twice!
